The shocking news was confirmed by Russel Brand himself in a statement to the Associated Press yesterday which said “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage, I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”
The British actor-comedian married Katy Perry after a whirlwind romance at a resort in a tiger reserve in India. The couple met at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards and announced their engagement in January 2010.
Although specific details were not revealed, the papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court indicate “irreconcilable differences”.
The couple has always been complementing each other for the support and love they shared. In recent media appearances, both Perry and Brand confirmed that they are “happily married”! There were rumors about their marital woes when they were seen without wedding rings during the holidays. Sources also reveal that Perry was blindsided by Brands official move to end their 14 month old marriage.
