REM Split & The Greatest Hits Album To Follow

REM is setting up a greatest hits album. After 31 years, the band has finally called it quits on September 21.

The band is at the final stages of their album ‘Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982 – 2011′ as they announced their split. It is scheduled to be released in Us on November 15 but a UK date is yet to be announced. The greatest Hits album includes some of the new tracks recorded post “Collapse Into Now” album.

The band was formed in 1980 Athens, Georgia with their original drummer Bill Berry. The most memorable REM anthems include “Out Of Time”, “Losing My Religion” and “Shiny Happy People”.  REM topped the UK charts with “Out Of Time” and “Automatic For The People”.

The band has released several compilation albums before, the latest being ‘And I Feel Fine… The Best of the I.R.S. Years 1982-1987′ in 2006.
