Meryl Streep Set For Best Actress Oscar !

Three weeks ahead of the official Oscar nominations, The guardian reveals that Meryl Streep is a definite frontrunner for this year’s Best Actress Oscar.

The 62 year old American actress’s powerful portrayal of Margret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady” seems to be giving a tough competition for other potential Oscar nominees such as Viola Davis ( The Help) and Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn).

Although Streep’s portrayal of the former British Prime Minister did attract some criticism, she has already been applauded by the Golden Globes and New York Critics Circle!

The two times Oscar winning actress is expected to get her  17th Oscar nomination this year! She won her first Oscar in the Best Actress category back in 1983 for “Sophie’s Choice”.

Streep has revealed that playing Thatcher has been a challenge. She said “It was extremely daunting, because I’m from New Jersey. And yet as an outsider, I felt something of what she might have felt.”
