The singer passed away on Saturday (February 11) at the age of 48 and was discovered in the bath of her room at Beverly Hills hotel in California. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

Whitney was found dead hours before she was due to perform at Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy party at Beverly Hilton. Although initially suspected as drowning, TMZ.com sited “family sources” which said that her death was due to an overdose of Xanax and other prescription drugs.

At her prime in 80s and 90s Whitney was one of the world’s biggest selling artists. She has sold more than 170 million albums worldwide and won hundreds of awards including Grammys and Emmys. Her much loved hits include “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me”), “Saving All My Love For You” and “I Will Always Love You”.

But the alcohol and drug abuse in recent past has overshadowed the super stars’ personal and professional life.  Whitney Houston will be buried next to her father John Houston in Westfield, N.J.

The hip-hop super star is leading the Grammy race with seven nominations. This includes nominations for “Watch the Throne” joint album with Jay-Z, collaboration track “All of the Lights,” featuring Rihanna, Fergie and Kid Cudi.

West is closely followed by Adele, who tied with Foo Fighters and Bruno Mars for six nominations each. Placed third with the most number of nominations are Lil Wayne and Skrillex with five nominations respectively.

This year’s Grammy performers list is quite exciting as well. The grand lineup includes Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Paul McCartney, Glen Campbell (with Blake Shelton and the Band Perry), Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, Coldplay and Rihanna, Bruno Mars, the Foo Fighters, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

The U2 frontman will soon send the current richest rock star Sir Paul McCartney to second place with his investments in Facebook. Sources reveal that through his equity firm called Elevation Partners, the singer owns 1.5 per cent of shares in Facebook; which will be worth over $1 billion when the company floats on the stock exchange.

Bono said to have invested $90 million in Facebook in 2009, which was not expected to yield such a fruitful outcome back then. His other investments include Forbes Media, Palm, and Move.com.  With Facebook’s scheduled floating in stock market later this year, Bono will be at least $300 million richer than McCartney.

However Bono won’t be able to cash in his shares soon as it could dramatically drop share value. Sources say that part of his profits from Facebook will go to his charity projects in Africa.

Nickleback has thanked the Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney for dissing them.

This unprecedented move comes after Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney told Rolling Stone that “Rock & roll is dying because people became O.K. with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world. So they became O.K. with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be sh*t.”

Nickleback took to their official twitter account later on and said “Thanks to the drummer in the Black Keys calling us the Biggest Band in the World in Rolling Stone. Hehe”.

This is not the first time Nickleback bravely took the haters. Back in November, thousands petitioned against the band’s Thanksgiving Day NFL halftime performance.
