Perry’s “Teenage Dream” album has sold more than 2.2 million copies in US and debuted at no.1 in the Billboard charts in 2010. She is also the only female artist to have five no.1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the history!

Perry reached her career peak in 2011 when she became the most played artist on the radio, and had three of the top 10 most played songs of the year. She eventually became the top selling artist of 2011!

The other performers include Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, LMFAO, CeeLo Green, Kelly Clarkson et al.

The Billboard Music Awards takes place in MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas on May 20.

Sources reveal that Warner Bros hoped a $35 million to $40 million opening for Dark Shadows but The Avengers’ continued stronghold at the box office is doing a lot of damage! The movie opened at no. 2 well behind The Avengers, who has already passed the $1 billion mark worldwide and eclipsed both The Spider-man and The Dark Knight as the most successful superhero film of all time!

Meantime, Warner Bros. still keeping their fingers crossed for their vampire tale, which said to be doing decent business across Europe, Asia and Australia.

The superhero ensemble shattered the opening weekend box office records in US and around the world bringing in about $US702 million. It raked in a record $US207 million during its first three days in US.

The sequel of the super hit movie was confirmed by none other than Walt Disney chairman and chief executive Robert   A. Iger.

With Marvel on their side Disney has reinvented its market presence. Some of the Marvel comic-book characters that Disney has lined up for next big screen releases include Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America: The First Avenger.

The success of The Avengers  brought in high merchandise sales, often products are sold out and need quick restocks. Disney has said that its global licensing team is loaded with licenses and retail sales matters. Robert A. Iger points out, “given the interest in this film, that demand for its product is going continue to be strong pretty much throughout the year.”

The first weekend saw resurrected Tupac Shakur wowing crowds alongside Dre and Snoop Dogg. The life-sized figure of Shakur who appeared on stage with Snoop Dogg managed to silence thousands of fans who couldn’t believe their eyes. Tupac hologram performed ‘Hail Mary’ and ‘2 of Amerikaz Most wanted’ with Snoop Dogg.

Eminem, Wiz Khalifa and Warren G. also joined Dr Dre on stage.

The idea to resurrect the dead stars was inspired from Mariah Carey’s appearance in five different European venues at Christmas concerts last year. KROQ reveals that the holograms of Mariah were so convincing that people thought ‘Mariah was there in person but in actuality she was a hologram.’

Kutcher will be playing the role of the late Apple founder in the movie titled “Jobs”. The film is said to feature Jobs early life as an errant youth and his journey to become one of the iconic entrepreneurs of modern age.

News about Kutcher playing the lead role met with mixed reactions. Mark Hulme, the producer of the biopic says, the actor is ‘pouring himself into the role’ and he will ‘prove to the world that this is the right part for him’.

Hulme told The Daily, ‘The physical resemblance is actually scary … but he himself connects with this man in a very significant way. Of course he’s a big techie. He has a personal affinity to what Steve Jobs accomplished.’

‘He is already meeting with folks that knew Steve Jobs. He’s working with professionals to get inside the voice. He’s letting his hair grow out. I understand he’s canceled all meetings and actually canceled all other projects”, Hulme said.

He also added. “Ashton is a much more intense individual than a lot of his current roles represent. We are feeling convinced that he’s gonna nail this.”

Madonna’s 12^th album “MDNA” was released on March 26. The album reached number one in the UK charts and that makes Madonna the act who has reached the top of the album charts the most time in the UK. The previous record was held by Elvis who had 11 number one albums.

The singer will have three gigs at a casino resort in Atlantic City, USA. The shows are scheduled for May 25, 26 and 27 during the time when Revel Resorts launch their new $2.4billion casino complex. The gigs coincide with the Memorial Day weekend.

This is Beyonce’s first live shows since her four nights at New York’s Roseland Ballroom last August.

Before the news of her live shows, it was revealed that Beyonce had signed up to star in Glee director Ryan Murphy’s film “One Hit Wonders”.  The musical also stars Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow and Reese Witherspoon.  The film is based on the several singers, who were once popular, forming a super-group to return to the limelight. Although the script has not yet been finalised, Beyonce’s role has already been created.

It also been reported that the singer is currently working on two new albums !!

Contrary to earlier speculations, Britney Spears will not be featured in Minaj’s album. However the featured artists include Lil Wayne, Nas and Chris Brown.

Due on April 3, the “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” includes 19 tracks. Chris Brown is featured in “Right By My Side,” while “Beez in the Trap” features new Def Jam signee 2 Chainz. Other prominent tracks include Rick Ross and Cam’ron’s “I Am Your Leader” and “Champion” featuring Nas, Drake and Young Jeezy.

Minaj has revealed in a recent interview that she wants to dethrone Jay-Z. She was quoted saying “I had a little conversation with Jay-Z at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show. He said,’Congratulations on all your success.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m coming for you. I’m coming for your spot, Mr.Mogul.”

The singer has just announced the dates of a European tour starting from June 8.
